The DINGO 2 Reconnaissance has an elevating mast with long-range optoelectronic sensors at the rear for tactical battlefield reconnaissance. Reconnaissance can be carried out with a daylight camera and a thermal imager for night use. The protected stowage box at the rear for carrying reconnaissance equipment can be replaced with an empty stowage box to accommodate other equipment pieces in the field.
DINGO 2 Reconnaissance – the command post of the DINGO 2 family
The engine hood protects the assemblies beneath it.
The protected safety cell allows the weapon station and observation equipment to be operated under full protection.
The vehicle can overcome obstacles up to 500mm in height.
The interface on the roof of the vehicle can be adapted to remote-controllable weapon stations from KNDS Deutschland or other manufacturers.
The rear stowage box with monitoring unit can be replaced with other modules.
The elevating mast system with high-resolution camera enables excellent surveillance and reconnaissance by day and by night.
Facts about the DINGO 2 Recce (optoelectronic)
The DINGO 2 Recce provides protected room for four persons (commander, driver, weapon operator and observer). It has extensive stowage racks for accommodating and operating radio and information systems. There is also space for personal and team equipment as well as the control elements for the observation system, all of which is protected from mines.
The mast is housed in the stowage box at the rear of the vehicle. The camera unit with components for observation and reconnaissance tasks are located on the mast: thermal imaging camera, high-resolution CCD/daylight camera, laser range finder and navigation system. With the help of these sensors, targets can be detected at a minimum range of 10 km, recognised at 4 km, and identified at 2 km.
The mast and sensor head are remote-controlled from inside the vehicle. It can be extended and operated from the stowage box to a height of up to 4 m above the ground. This way, no crew member has to leave the protected space of the safety cell.
The integrated rotating and swivelling platform enables seamless all-round surveillance of the near and far surrounding area.
Control of and data from the observation system and radio sets can be transferred to a command post or similar via an external interface on the vehicle to enable dismounted operation.
The stowage box with extendable mast and sensor head can be replaced with a dedicated stowage compartment for material transport. This allows the DINGO 2 Recce to be used as a patrol vehicle as well.
