KNDS Deutschland LEGUAN family of bridges remains in widespread use across NATO, with 19 countries using the system worldwide.
The performance features of the BOXER bridgelayer
Building a dependable crossing up to 50 m long is a simple feat with the 14 m bridges, the 26 m bridge or a combination thereof.
Extremely simple set-up and the tactical advantage of horizontal laying set this fully automated laying system apart from its competitors.
Thanks to the extensive visual equipment, the crew can keep an eye on everything at all times and work reliably by day and by night.
Facts about the BOXER bridgelayer
The Medium Forces concept relies on strategic, operational, and tactical wheel-based mobility, units of this type must therefore be equipped with an organic gap-crossing ability.
BOXER is an ideal platform to incorporate different bridge types (length and weight class) mounting them on a universal module. KNDS Deutschland LEGUAN family of bridges remains in widespread use across NATO, with 19 countries using the system worldwide.
For the mobility of Medium Forces, the TEJU bridges of weight class MLC 50 are suitable for all BOXER variants. This allows a 22-meter bridge or alternatively two 12-meter bridges to be laid within just a few minutes.
The bridge module of the BOXER can also lay and accommodate a LEGUAN bridge (weight class MLC 100, 14 meters long) suitable for heavy forces. This bridge is thus interoperable with other LEGUAN laying systems (e.g. on LEOPARD 2 chassis).
All bridges can be launched and recovered using the same bridgelayer module without any technical adjustments being made. This gives Medium Forces using BOXER greatly increased flexibility and freedom of movement.

Use under difficult terrain conditions
The BOXER bridgelayer combines the high on- and off-road mobility of the BOXER 8 x8 drive module with a bridge-laying mission module from the LEGUAN and TEJU family.
The BOXER bridgelayer in action
The BOXER bridgelayer enables armored task forces to cross natural and man-made obstacles in the shortest possible time. In addition to military use, the BOXER bridgelayer can also make a valuable contribution in civil disaster relief.
