The FLW 200 has been configured as a stabilised surveillance and self-protection system. The system’s great agility and mobility enable optimal protection of the vehicle crew.
Performance characteristics of the weapon station FLW 200
The FLW 200 enables observation and self-defence with vehicle protection with armament variants up to the 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Optronics sensor systems enable battlefield surveillance, target acquisition and engagement by day, night and under poor visibility. The FLW 200 is equipped with a cooled thermal imager.
The FLW 200 has a mechanical interface which allows the adaptation of various armament variants (such as the sMG.50 or GMW 40 mm).
The FLW 200 can be expanded by the addition of an MPL-76 mm protection system. The system is equipped with six launchers, which are actuated with a dedicated display and control unit.
As with the FLW 100, the FLW 200 is operated using a multi-functional control and display unit and a one-handed controller. It can be used to actuate all system functions of the weapon stations.
The electrical and mechanical interfaces of the FLW 200 are identical to those of the FLW 100. This makes it possible to exchange weapon stations configured for various armaments.
Facts about the FLW 200
The FLW 200 remote-controlled light weapon station is a modular self-protection system and can thus be configured for customer-specific requirements. KNDS Deutschland lightweight, gyro-stabilised weapon stations provide optimal reconnaissance and self-protection capabilities of the highest technological level. Developed and qualified in accordance with the specifications of the German Bundeswehr in compliance with the latest system safety requirements, the weapon stations have remained consistently dependable partners since their introduction with maximum availability under all conditions.
Simple adaptation that requires no roof opening and its low weight makes the FLW 200 usable for multiple functions on almost any type of vehicle and even in autonomous operation (e.g. site defence). For instance, the weapon station can be refitted from a main battle tank to a lightly armoured patrol vehicle within an extremely short amount of time.
Specific weapon equipment kits also allow armaments to be changed quickly and safely. These enable mission-specific armaments in calibres 7.62 mm, 12.7mm (sMG .50) and 40mm automatic grenade launcher (H&K).
Automatic equipment kit detection and the operating software allow the armament/equipment kit to be changed within a few minutes. Conversion is carried out with the conventional on board tool kit.
Modular optronic sensor systems ensure optimal battlefield surveillance, target acquisition and engagement by day, night and under poor visibility. In addition to the high-resolution CCD colour camera with zoom, a powerful thermal imager (cooled or uncooled), a combined night vision function and a laser range finder are part of the weapon stations’ modular surveillance, operating, and display concept.
