KNDS commissioned to support the Canadian Leopard 2 Family of Vehicles fleet

KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG has been commissioned by Public Services and Procurement Canada on behalf of the Department of National Defence to support the LEOPARD 2 main battle tanks including the Armoured Recovery Vehicle and Armoured Engineering Vehicle variants.

This is a comprehensive contract for the long-term sustainment support of all tanks that Canada has awarded to the industry.

The contract was signed in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, and includes program management, maintenance, technical services, supply support, engineering support, and other forms of support as required, including the establishment of a maintenance and repair centre.

KNDS Canada Inc., based in Ottawa, was founded specifically for this project and is responsible for its implementation.

The contract, which begins in September 2024, runs until March 2031 and includes an option for a further five years.

For KNDS, the contract for the long-term support of the systems is an honor and we are aware of our responsibility to ensure the operational capability of 74 LEOPARD 2 battle tanks and 29 family vehicles,” says Markus Schmidt, Senior Vice President Customer Support.

The order volume of the core and additional services amounts to over €600 million.
