Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has been commissioned by IVECO Defence Vehicles S.p.A. to produce the driver’s cabs of GTF2 protected transport vehicles on the IVECO Trakker basis. In total, the order involves a production volume of 224 protected cabs from KMW with an option for a further 824 truck cabs. KMW is responsible for the design and the welding of the cabs as well as their assembly, which also includes the electrical equipment. The first 224 cabins will be completed by 2024. The integration of all 1048 systems will be finalized in 2029.
KMW is the world market leader in the field of highly protected driver’s cabs. In addition to the Bundeswehr, users of the safety cells – an in-house development – include the British Army, the Swiss Army as well as the armed forces of Norway. To date, KMW has supplied comprehensive protective equipment for more than 700 cabs of various truck manufacturers.
